Uxbridge - Blackstone Valley, Massachusetts
Like Sutton, Uxbridge was originally the site of a Nipmuc native American village. It was "Wacetung" in Uxbridge's case. Where Sutton was first settled in 1716, Uxbridge was settled back in 1662. Like much of the Blackstone Valley, Uxbridge became a center for mill activity. Sadly, one of their gorgeous brick mills had a devastating fire in 2007, destroying a wealth of gorgeous antique shops which had used it as their home.
Uxbridge has a number of ponds and parks for those who enjoy outdoor activities. It's also home of the Alternatives Gallery, which showcases local artisans works.
