Police Log - Sutton MA Police Department
Mar 07 - Mar 13, 2011
Again this week we had no deer hits at all. Great driving everyone! We did have two breaking-and-enterings, so make sure you keep your doors locked.
It was an odd week for 911 calls - there were a ton of them and people were calling for issues about noise and animals. Usually there's only a few 911 calls in a given week and they're all medical emergencies. This week it was as if everyone decided to use the number. It's hard to tell from a one-line on a police report, but generally I would think if there was a noisy neighbor or a barking dog that I'd call the police regular line and not 911. It makes me curious what types of issues they were reporting. When it says "animal complaint" does it mean the neighbor's dog was barking incessantly, or that a black bear was trying to get into their house?
Based on the raw data, here is the breakdown of what the police worked on this week. There were 292 items on my report (which had a few things removed).
The number of events the police handled on each day of the week:
A breakdown of the types of events they handled this week, with the most frequent ones on the left:
A 209A is a restraining order. COD is Cop On Duty / Court Duty. It's listed in relationship to the Uxbridge Court House and typically involves an officer appearing at court in relationship to testifying about tickets / arrests / etc.
There were 24 911 calls this week which is a fairly high number. Most weeks it's more like 15 911 calls. Note the reason there are fewer on the above graph is that if a 911 call comes in for something specific - like "Medical Assist" - that's what I file it under. I only leave it under "911" if it's something generic.
The same figures in a pie chart, which helps to demonstrate that motor vehicle issues were by far the most common event the police dealt with:
Please let me know if you'd like to see any other views of the police log data!
Of course this means they're intersting by my definition :) I have to choose somehow!

2:46pm - Hartness Road - burglary / breaking & entering

The burglaries aren't anywhere near each other - one's east of 146, while the other is west of 146.
