Common House Spider
If there's a spider that has an easy to understand name, it's the Common House Spider! It's a common spider that you find in practically every house in Sutton. It has striped legs that are tan and darker brown. The main body is dark brown with tan designs on it.
The common house spider, or Parasteatoda tepidariorum, is part of the Cobweb Spiders family. This is the Theridiidae family and includes the various kinds of spiders that make fluffy little webs in the corners of rooms. They are friendly, quiet little spiders that catch gnats, ants, wasps, and mosquitoes for you. They do their part to keep your home clean and safe. For that reason, in many cultures they're considered quite lucky!
Since common house spiders love to live in houses, they are quite used to humans. They are calm and serene and, if anything, will run to hide if it seems someone is about to cruelly "dust away" their web :).

Here's a different common house spider we spotted. This one was dangling from a thread.
Here are three sent in from one of our visitors, Kristey. Thank you so much, Kristy, for allowing me to post these on the website!
