Yellow Rumped Warbler - Birds in Sutton Massachusetts
I avidly watch for birds, but I only rarely see the yellow-rumped warbler here in Sutton Massachusetts. This lovely bird is sort of like a sparrow, but it has a distinctive bright yellow spot on its head, wing, and rump. You might even think it's a goldfinch going through a molt.
These photos of a yellow rumped warbler were taken on my front steps. It was merrily hopping around in my marigold plants, maybe eating the dead seeds there. I hear that they like suet and sunflower seeds, but we put those out all year round and I've never seen a warbler at any of the stations.
These photos were taken in September 2013.
