White Violet
There are many types of violets that grow wild in Sutton Massachusetts. This apparently is a White Violet - Viola blanda - which is found in much of the United States. It is also known as the sweet white violet. It is a gorgeous flower with five white petals. The top two petals are sort of like Mickey Mouse ears and are primarily white. Then the bottom three petals have purple and blue veins on them. The center of the flower is yellow with feathery hairs. These white violets bloom in Sutton about the first week of May. They completely take over my back yard in a white carpet. My heartless boyfriend then mows them with the lawnmower :)
