Sutton, Massachusetts
Virtual Museum - First Floor - MAN'S DRESS COAT
One of two worn by Fred Batchelor who was a State Representative of Massachusetts in the late 1800's. Tuxedos were not "invented" until around 1886, in Tuxedo, NY. They slowly spread across the US, becoming popular in the 1920s and were very visible in the 1930s depression era. 1910s Men Clothing First Floor - Sutton Virtual Museum Sutton Virtual Museum Homepage Sutton Historical Society Page
