Snow and Icy Trees

We already had snow on the ground when we got a few more inches today – plus the subsequent rain has turned all the trees back into ice sculptures again! They are immensely pretty, each tiny branch in its little icy coating.

Thermometer Reads 9F

It’s time for some truly frigid weather in Sutton – the thermometer was reading 9F this morning. We still have about half a foot of snow down on the ground, and it’s going to stay there for a while! The poor birds out there have no water to drink!

Frozen Tundra

Two days ago it was a 1/2″ layer of ice coating the entire car, that had to be chiseled off. Yesterday it was bright sunshine, teasing us with a last glimpse of warmth. Then today it is 20F and frigid out there, with a layer of frozen skating-rink snow on everything. Walk carefully!

Happy New Year, everyone! We got about a foot of snow for the end of 2008, on top of a light dusting from earlier in the day. Winter is really here! Enjoy your 2009!
