Theridion Spider

Theridion spiders fall into the family Theridiidae - the family of cobweb spiders. These harmless spiders are often found in houses, spinning light little webs in the corners of rooms. The Theridion spiders are of the genus Theridion.

There are 65 species of Theridion in the US and so far we have not gotten a sharp enough photo of our Theridions to figure out which species they are. We will keep trying!

These photos are all of male theridion spiders. The females have a very large, bulbous back end.

This next Theridion was found on our back porch. It was found in the side rail of a sliding glass door. When we asked for an ID on the photos we were told this spider was emaciated.

Finally, these three fuzzy images are of a Theridion spider.
