Orb Weaver Spider
Orb weaver spiders are cool! These are the spiders that make the big, flat, spiral-around-in-a-circle webs that you see in cartoons and read about in stories. Charlotte in Charlotte's Web was an orb weaver spider, spelling out words in her web. I never thought of these as spirals, exactly, I guess I thought of them more as bulls eyes.
In either case, an Orb Weaver is the Araneidae family and there are several types of them. This one is apparently a type of spotted orb weaver - a Neoscona arabesca or an "Arabesque Orb Weaver". What a pretty name!.
