Eris Spider
The Eris genus of jumping spider is part of the Salticidae family, and the Dendryphantinae subfamily. These jumping spiders have a primarily dark brown back with a thin white line encircling the edge of the abdomen. There is often a pair of white stripes on the sides of their head leading towards the big eyes. There's usually a cute little white patch on the top of their heads too! We have only seen two of these Eris spiders so far. The first one was our ceiling. We're looking for more now, to get better photos!
This Eris was spotted on our back porch, on our trash can.
