Cross-Striped Cabbageworm - Bugs and Beetles in Sutton Massachusetts

With a name like "Cabbageworm" you might think that these caterpillars eat cabbage. Not necessarily true? I found these swarming all over my Brussels Sprouts plants. They were completely skeletonizing the leaves.

The Cross-Striped Cabbageworm is black with white horizontal stripes running all the way down its body. Along each side is a bright yellow band. The Cross-Striped Cabbageworm also has black hairs sticking out of it. It has a red head and light green tail.

Known as Evergestis rimosalis this is the caterpillar for the cabbageworm moth. These moths have large white wings.
