Lyme Disease Map Sutton Massachusetts
Lyme disease is carried by deer ticks, and these tiny ticks are definitely found in Sutton Massachusetts. This map was released in February 2012 by the Yale School of Public Health. It shows that Sutton is pretty much right in the center of Lyme Disease territory. Therefore it's very wise to be aware of the issues when you go anywhere that ticks could live - which is pretty much anywhere in Sutton.
It's fascinating that this disease wasn't even identified until the mid-70s so people who got it before then were often told that they were imagining their symptoms. At least now we realize what it is and what causes it. Still, deer ticks are SO tiny, and not everybody gets a distinctive bulls-eye rash, so it's still not always clear when someone has been infected. The symptoms, including fatigue and depression, can easily be "explained away" by the stresses of modern life. It is only when the disease progresses to more serious symptoms that some realize that they have had Lyme disease for years. It's good to wear light colored clothing when going outdoors, and having pants tucked into socks so there is no open skin down low. However, deer ticks are so tiny that it can be challenging to see them even on white clothes.
