Meadow Spittlebug

The Meadow Spittlebug, or Philaenus spumarius, is tiny. It's barely a quarter inch long. It's normally brownish in color, with six lets, and a tall ridge of a spine down its back. It has two big eyes in the front.

Apparently the Meadow Spittlebug is found along the east coast and west coast. It's definitely found in Massachusetts.

These little buggies can LEAP! They are just amazing. They spring quite high into the air.

Apparently farmers consiider the meadow spittlebug a pest, as they can invade a field and harm all the plants.
