Gray Treefrog - Frogs and Toads in Sutton Massachusetts
There are only two types of tree frogs in Massachusetts - the tiny peeper and the gray treefrog. So if you see a 1-2" little frog near trees, it's most likely the gray and not the little under-one-inch peeper. The confusing thing about the gray treefrog is that it's not necessarily gray! This one we found was more of a dark brown. Apparently they change color depending on the weather and their mood and their surroundings. They can go from silvery green to dark brown and all sorts of colors in between. Very cool!
Here's a video of the gray tree frog, to show just how tiny it is, and how cute! We put it back outside when we were done with the videos. Frogs and Toads in Sutton Massachusetts Animals and Birds in Sutton Massachusetts Sutton Massachusetts Photo Collection
